Sue Simmons
Coordinator Pastoral Care Team and Organist
Sue coordinates the Pastoral Care Team at Messiah, plans worship and plays organ for the 8:30 traditional service. Prior to coming to Messiah, Sue served a call for 7 years as deaconess at Signal Hill Lutheran Church in Belleville, Illinois where she coordinated the congregation’s Christian Education, older adult activities, music, social ministry and hospital visitation. Sue has been a chaplain with Alegent at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs and at Lasting Hope Recovery Center. Sue received deaconess certification from Concordia University, Chicago and a Master’s in Theology from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. She is nearing completion of candidacy in the Nebraska Synod of the ELCA as an Associate in Ministry. Her husband, John is retired from the USAF and works at Offutt. They enjoy bicycling and their 3 dachshunds.
